Tim, I totally agree about the bike- I do think it is great, I was just kind of disappointed with the QC/service aspect.. Don't get the wrong idea about my dealership either (I was in there just yesterday and they atill treat me like family- even with my bitching about QC!!!) the sales, finance, and parts folks were/are great. Again, at half the MSRP (not actual price which is much more) of the cheapest Sportster, I think the Savage is the best thing going!
I'm like you in the valves, bent feeler (I use a .004 as an "aiming point" the 3 slides in easy and the 5 just barely won't fit) then a box wrench and an offset screwdiver. One little trick I got through trial and error was to get the screw in position and then remember the orientation of the slot, then if it slips a little when you tighten the nut, you don't have to get the feeler again (I may go see a plastic surgeon about installing a third hand), you just re-align it. Of course, remember to go back over it to snug it up and double check the clearances....
KTRSD!
